Merrily they pushed on during the early part of the day, but it did not come so nicely later, when the strong south breeze slapped the water against their bows, and sprinkled them generously with the spray. They were veterans at this work, and kept on with long and short legs until three in the afternoon, when Ned blew a blast upon his fog horn to indicate that he had discovered a suitable spot for camping.
