% Paddling Under Palmettos. 237 Archie’s ears were suddenly saluted with the glad sound of a blast from Ned’s horn. This was a signal for which they had long been waiting. It signified that the passage through which Ned | meant to lead them was in sight. A little more of wild tossing upon that heaving sea, during which all of them took observations as far as lay in their power to do so. Then came two sharp .blasts, which signified that it was time to change their course, and, taking the breeze fairly over their port quarter, make the run in. Away they went. Oh! but it was a wild chase upon the great bil- lows, and one that made Archie hold his very breath with suspense. Gomichboo cS (E(0)
