Mrs. Stetson-Stetson was a large, portly woman, very red in the face, and just a trifle irritable in temper, but her jewels and hand- some gowns far outweighed personal blemishes, these small, and her dinners and other lavish entértainments completely con- cealed any other shortcomings of which she might have been possessed.
