I could almost hear the thunder of those hoofs as I hastily tossed more wood on the fire, and then rolling up in my blanket, dozed: off, to be hauled out by Joe at an early hour. The door of the bear trap was dropped, to prevent any animal being caught and starved to death, and the dug-out was hauled out of the water and once more propped up in the hollow tree.
