After luncheon Will had a horse and trap brought round, and he drove Snapson to a nice little cottage on the borders of a big pond, almost a lake, and close by there was a trim little sailing boat, moored to the bank, In front of the cottage was a flagstaff, with a line for running up a flag, and on the summit of it floated the Union Jack. ‘What do you think of this ?” Will asked. “Why, I think it is as neat and trim a little place as a man could wish to see,” Snapson replied. | ‘¢ It is not quite the sea,” Will said, “but it is thenearest thing we can do to it about here.” “You've got a kind of hankering after salt water,” said Snapson. ‘Not a bit of it,” said Will, laughing, “ but I thought you might.” “Me!” exclaimed Snapson. “ Yes, you,” returned Will; ‘‘ for this little house is for you, and when you are lonely come up and see me.
