Signed by 'Spy' (Leslie Ward), this chromolithograph — Men of the Day, No. 62 — caricatures Sir William Jenner, physician-in-ordinary to Queen Victoria and Prince of Wales, and leading authority on typhus and typhoid fever. Ward renders him as a thickset, balding figure in a dark frock coat and grey trousers, dangling a pair of pince-nez with practiced nonchalance — the patrician consultant at his most self-assured.
