# Young Wild West's Hunt in the Hills
This January 1921 issue of Wild West Weekly presents the opening chapters of "Young Wild West's Hunt in the Aztec Hills" by An Old Scout. The story follows the eponymous hero, a young gunslinger and prospector renowned as champion sharpshooter of the West, alongside his sweetheart Arietta Murdock, his partner Cheyenne Charlie and wife Anna, and Jim Dart with his sweetheart Eloise Gardner.
In Silver City, New Mexico, newly married tenderfoot Will Hadley and his ranch-raised bride Jennie seek a hunting guide but discover their intended guide Buck Stewart has been killed in a gunfight with Rickety Blake. Learning of Young Wild West's presence at the hotel, they request his party join their mountain hunting expedition. Wild West accepts. The narrative establishes Hadley as an Eastern bookkeeper at a local smelting works, popular despite his inexperience with frontier life, while detailing the party's comfortable financial position from prospecting ventures. Chapter II begins discussing a dice game, though the text becomes incomplete.
