# Young Wild West Along the Yser

This issue of the Young Wild West weekly serial features "Young Wild West—Or Arietta's Wonderful Shot," by An Old Scout. The adventure relocates the American Wild West hero and his companions to the European theater of World War I. Young Wild West, his sweetheart Arietta Murdock, Cheyenne Charlie and his wife Anna, Jim Dart with Eloise Gardner, and Hop Wah the Chinese servant have brought their Wild West Show to Europe and are now observing the fighting along the Yser River between German and Allied forces (French, English, and Belgian). Bearing travel documents obtained from German and British military officials, Wild and his party arrive at an Allied-held village to observe the three-day battle. They secure permission from the general's secretary to remain in camp near the battlefield and receive letters of introduction. The narrative emphasizes Wild's neutral status despite his connections to German leadership, including having carried the wounded Crown Prince from the battlefield while assisting the Red Cross.
