This January 1956 issue of Saint Detective Magazine, edited by Leslie Charteris, features five mystery stories. "The Old Man in the Window" by Margery Allingham and "Melody in Death" by Baynard Kendrick (starring his blind detective Duncan Maclain) are first appearances in this publication. "A Gentleman for a Night" by Octavus Roy Cohen reprises his detective Jim Hanvey, while Richard Sale returns with "The Ghost of a Dog" featuring Daffy Dill. Robert Arthur contributes "A Present for Christmas," involving a Santa Claus twist. The lead serial, "The Reluctant Nudist" by Charteris himself, follows Simon Templar and George McGeorge to a Mediterranean island colony (Iles d'Hyères) near the French Riviera where nudity is legally permitted, as Charteris notes that "murder is a lot more difficult where it would be such a problem to conceal a weapon."
