Tales of Wonder and Super-Science, Autumn 1941, No. 1, edited by Walter H. Gillings, presents three science fiction stories alongside a reader-submitted feature. Jack Williamson's novelette "The Moon Era" depicts a lunar world before its cooling, populated by grotesque machine-beings of a dying civilization. Miles J. Breuer's "Lady of the Atoms" concerns a man constructing his dream from the substance of reality to fill a void in his life. Clark Ashton Smith's "Escape to Mlok" follows a deserter from Earth transported by alien creatures to an otherworldly sphere. Additional stories include George C. Wallis's "The Cosmic Cloud" (a planet's self-sacrifice to save Earth) and Thomas S. Gardner's "The Insect World" (depicting an Earth where insects have supplanted humanity). The issue features a "Science-Fantasy Forum" of reader submissions on speculative topics, including a prize-winning entry on hypothetical Nazi lunar colonization and discussions of potential Martian observation of Earth.
