This issue features three science fiction novels. "The Star Beast" by Poul Anderson depicts an ancient enemy revealed as fraudulent while a genuine destroyer emerges from space—a forgotten beast bred from humanity over millennia. "The Imund Masters" by Neil R. Jones portrays deathless metal men of Zor in battle against an equally indestructible foe. "Beyond Space and Time" by Joel Townsley Rogers follows Helver's solitary journey beyond the galaxy itself.

Six short stories accompany the novels: Alfred Coppel's "Half-Life" explores a quasi-human guardian of a planetoid; John Holbrook's "Ultimate Quest" concerns a one-way voyage risking stellar catastrophe; Kris Neville's "The First" presents Sam inheriting Eden alone; Fredric Brown's "The Undying Ones" follows Donross pursuing death itself; Mack Reynolds' "The Word from the Void" restricts Camp's access to individual identity; and L. Ron Hubbard's "Final Enemy" examines an inescapable shadow.
