This inaugural issue of Space Stories presents five science fiction tales alongside popular advertisements and a feature article on space hazards. The lead novel, Bryce Walton's "Man of Two Worlds," concerns a protagonist named Thorsten who discovers a black pyramid and the Cavern of Many Worlds, granting him passage to an alternate life. Gordon R. Dickson's novelet "The Invaders" features McGarrity combating space raiders. Noel Loomis's "Big-Top on Jupiter" depicts an interplanetary circus featuring a child and a dinosaur. Margaret St. Clair contributes a continued story involving mysterious alien intelligence targeting the protagonist. Additional stories include Henry Hasse's "And Return," exploring a character named Belarski's fatal error and a ship's halt, and Miriam Allen de Ford's "The Whatsits," depicting extraterrestrial beings causing earthly problems. An editorial section and science fiction book reviews accompany the fiction.
