This issue contains two principal nonfiction pieces. "Snap Shots in Central Park" by J. Crawford Hamilton provides an extensive illustrated tour of New York's Central Park, discussing its 840 acres, landscape design achievements, architecture including the Bethesda Fountain (designed by Emma Stebbins), statuary collection, botanical plantings with emphasis on exotic species, and seasonal attractions. Hamilton describes the park's drives and bridle paths frequented by wealthy carriages, the menagerie, water features including the Lake and various reservoirs, and recreational facilities like swan boats and children's attractions. He notes that much of the park's statuary honors foreign figures rather than Americans.

The issue also begins "Plays and Players of the Day" by Morris Bacheller, which examines drama and theatrical evolution, contrasting ancient Greek tragedy with the rapid development of modern comedy.
