# Dene Hollow

Dene Hollow continues in this issue as Chapter XV: "The Snow Storm," by the author of East Lynne. The London-Worcester mail coach encounters severe snowfall while traveling to Worcester on December 23rd, carrying four passengers—one lady and three gentlemen, including Squire Arde—along with holiday parcels and luggage. The coach becomes stranded in heavy snow near Chipping Norton and cannot proceed. The passengers take refuge at a remote farmhouse through Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Squire Arde grows increasingly anxious because he carries his daughter's marriage license and settlement deed; her wedding to Captain Clanwaring is scheduled for Tuesday. The farmer provides hospitable shelter and provisions. Despite the snow's continuing severity, Arde desperately attempts coordination with the coachman and guard to resume travel.
