John Rackham's "Theory" follows Captain Andrew Scott, commander of an interplanetary expedition to Tau Ceti, who returns from three months of rigorous training at Star Jump Base. Driving to recover before departure, he encounters old flames Ken and Belle Parker; Belle has invited him to visit, and Scott discovers they have a son—Jeremy—leading him to confront personal history with his project responsibilities. Richard Wilson's "The Best Possible World" appears as its first publication. Additional stories include "The Doorway" by Wynne N. Whiteford and "Test Case" by Donald Malcolm. Kenneth Bulmer concludes "The Fatal Fire" serial. An article titled "Limitless Life" by Kenneth Johns is included. The issue also features editorial remarks by John Carnell about publication constraints and the readers' letter section.
