Nebula Science Fiction #35

This issue of Nebula (October 1958, #35), edited by Peter Hamilton, features science fiction stories and a non-fiction astronomy article. The novelette "The Captain's Dog" by E.C. Tubb depicts a starship crew burying an android named Andy beneath an alien tree. Andy, a manufactured being used for menial labor, never experienced freedom or happiness during his service aboard the vessel, confined to the ship's control room. The crew—including captain Hammond, engineer Qovis, navigator Styman, and doctor Bryant—pay respects to the android they valued despite his servile status. The issue also includes short stories by Eric Frank Russell ("Bitter End"), James White ("Dark Talisman"), and William F. Temple ("The Undiscovered Country"), plus the conclusion of Kenneth Bulmer's serial "Wisdom of the Gods." Additional features include A.E.
