This November 1964 issue of Magazine of Horror features a mix of reprinted classic literature and new stories. The lead serial is Laurence Manning's "Caverns of Horror," second in his "Stranger Club" series originally published in Wonder Stories, wherein members gather to share tales of the extraordinary. Manning's story opens at the exclusive Stranger Club on West 53rd Street, where a mysterious member named Smithers challenges Colonel Marsh and the narrator to big game hunting on Long Island, offering a thousand-dollar bet. Other contents include Walt Liebscher's "Prodigy," Robert W. Chambers' "The Mask," Robert Barbour Johnson's "The Life-After-Death of Mr. Thaddeus Warde," David Grinnell's "The Feminine Fraction," Nathaniel Hawthorne's "Dr. Heidegger's Experiment," August Derleth's "The Pacer" with accompanying critical commentary, H.G. Wells' "The Moth," and Clark Ashton Smith's "The Door to Saturn."
