# Museum Catalog Note: Educational Blue Book and Directory of the Church of the Brethren
This 1923 reference work, compiled by W. Arthur Cable and Homer F. Sanger, documents educational achievement within the Church of the Brethren from 1708 onward. The volume includes Dr. John S. Flory's historical survey of Brethren education; a chronological index of denominational institutions; photographs of buildings and notable figures; and extensive biographical sections organized into four categories: living college graduates, deceased college graduates, living non-graduates engaged in educational work, and deceased non-graduates in education. The work features indices by vocation and avocation, a chronology of scholastic degrees, and a complete name index noting clergy designations. Published by the General Educational Board in Elgin, Illinois, it represents the denomination's first systematic census of its educational personnel and institutional development.
