Capitán Pantera: El infierno del Pacífico

El Infierno del Pacífico by P. V. Debrigode presents the legendary biography of Cyril James Lanvin, a Sydney-born adventurer whose posthumous fame rivaled that of Shaw and Chesterton in Australia. The prologue establishes that Lanvin, son of modest Jewish merchants, enlisted in WWI at eighteen, serving as an aerial observer with distinction under General Monash. Returning to Australia at twenty-two, restless and traumatized, he accepts a patrol officer position in New Guinea, where he pursues headhunters and cannibals while discovering substantial gold deposits near Lubulai. Frustrated by the impossibility of profitably extracting ore without machinery and capital, Lanvin seeks financing from the wealthy mixed-race businesswoman Reina Emma Travers. Arriving in Grassmate in 1921, he encounters the treacherous explorer Park "Shark-Eye" and witnesses a moonlit beach ambush targeting escaped prisoner Mario Hidalgo and American sailor Ross Maloney. Lanvin warns them of the trap, opening fire on Park and the waiting warders.
