After picking up Monika Werner, an Austrian hitchhiker, Fisher learns that Scholberg—a remote mountain village where he plans to stay—allegedly harbors a dark supernatural history. According to local legend, the town was once inhabited by Satan himself, manifesting as Baron Jonathan von Jorg in 1790, during which time demonic orgies and black masses occurred. Despite warnings, Fisher proceeds to Scholberg, where he encounters increasingly disturbing phenomena: spectral villagers dancing in snow, decomposing corpses animated in macabre procession through the streets, skeletal figures draped in putrid flesh. The narrative combines atmospheric alpine setting description with mounting horror imagery as Fisher discovers the village's cursed reality firsthand.
