# El Bosque del Horror by Alex Colins

This Spanish-language horror story follows Burton Conger, an aging plantation owner facing financial ruin, who is blackmailed by the wealthy Job Wharton into removing an obstacle to Wharton's marriage plans. Wharton desires Olympia, Burton's young ward, who is betrothed to the poor but virtuous Tony Groover. Wharton offers to forgive Burton's mortgage debt and provide partnership of their combined plantations if Burton persuades Olympia to marry him instead—or if Tony simply disappears. Burton reluctantly agrees to the scheme. Job then seeks out Theda, a feared old witch dwelling in the Horror Forest, along with her deformed companion Zachary, offering gold to arrange Tony's death. The narrative includes supernatural elements, with references to Theda's reputed ability to resurrect the dead and premonitions of otherworldly vengeance. The opening scene depicts grotesque reanimated corpses advancing on Burton—the decomposed Judge Dangler and others—suggesting supernatural consequences for the murder plot.
