This Spanish-language thriller serializes Miedo en el Oriente Expres (Fear on the Orient Express), set in Paris, winter 1910. British journalist Brian Jefford arrives at the Gare de L'Est to board the Orient Express bound for Istanbul. On the platform, he encounters the elegant French woman Nanette Renant, learning they occupy adjacent cabins in car number nine. When an anarchist assassin attempts to murder Grand Duke Wladimiro Oliew and Princess Rasnikoff of the Russian imperial family, Jefford intervenes heroically, deflecting the shooter's bullets. The assailant flees across the railway tracks and is struck and killed by a locomotive. The grateful Grand Duke offers Jefford his friendship and assistance. The narrative establishes themes of European political instability, bolshevik terrorism threatening the Russian aristocracy, and the facade of Belle Époque prosperity masking social unrest.
