# "Arrival of a Train" by Curtis Garland
This Spanish-language terror serial (Selección Terror #423, 1981) opens at a small English provincial railway station during stormy weather. An impatient traveler awaits a delayed train alongside several other passengers: a young couple in dark coats, a blonde woman and dark man traveling separately, and a stout businessman. When the train finally arrives—running late after mechanical failure—all five passengers board the first-class compartment, persuaded by the tall, white-haired conductor to share the only adequately heated car. A sixth passenger, a thin man in a checked coat, refuses and takes a separate compartment. As the train departs northbound toward Nottingham, the conductor collects tickets with peculiar, penetrating attention. The isolated setting and strange behavior of the conductor establish an atmosphere of mysterious unease as the narrative begins.
