Selección Terror: Hombres rotos

· 1973

"Broken Men," by Clark Carrados, is a horror serial presented in Spanish. The narrative follows Rudy Tunstall, a destitute young man in Slayer County, who is recruited by the mysterious Ivan Maffovich to participate in "inoffensive psychic experiments" under Professor Joshua Wack. Promised $90 weekly plus room and board for six months to a year, Tunstall accepts despite the restriction that he cannot leave the professor's residence. He meets fellow recruit Della Daley during their transport. En route, their driver Al experiences a blown tire; while he repairs it, they visit an inn where the proprietress Martha Rodland warns them ominously that the professor's estate near Wooden Plain marshes is cursed and that Wack himself is demonic. The excerpt concludes as they approach Black Ridge, the professor's location. The text includes a visceral scene where Tunstall discovers a severed arm—bloodless and grotesque—suggesting the horror content involves disturbing body horror and supernatural elements.
