# Las Maravillas de Ultratumba
This Spanish-language horror serial by Ralph Barby, issue 365 in Editorial Bruguera's Selección Terror collection (1980), follows Steve L. Doow, a once-famous illusionist known as "the Great Sergio," whose career has declined. He retrieves his daughter Jennie from boarding school, revealing his finances have collapsed—traditional stage magic no longer pays. He plans to reinvent himself exploiting popular interest in spiritualism and parapsychology, collecting worthless diplomas from seminars across Argentina, Brazil, the Philippines, and Europe to establish a fraudulent consulting practice. That night, driving to a cemetery, Steve exhumes the skeleton of Dennis Horse Smith while Jennie waits outside, terrified by a mysterious dark animal with hypnotic eyes. Later, she appears transformed in an elegant gown, resembling her deceased mother Marta, prepared for some undefined purpose her father has arranged.
