El genio de la muerte

This Spanish-language pulp horror issue presents "El Genio de la Muerte" (The Genius of Death) by Clark Carrados, published February 1980 by Editorial Bruguera in Barcelona.

The story opens with a terrified woman fleeing through a storm-swept forest, pursued by strange sounds and creatures. She reaches the isolated home of Ben Rinngold Coslar, a man recovering from recent emotional turmoil. The woman, Mavis Skrane, claims she has escaped from Seckhill Tower, where a man named Seamus Farhack lured her with an investment scheme promising forty percent returns on ten thousand pounds. Mavis describes discovering another woman's mutilated corpse in a refrigerator—dismembered to feed Farhack's dwarf servants who practice cannibalism. After witnessing this horror, she fled. Despite initial skepticism, Coslar believes her and protects her overnight. The next morning, they drive toward Seckhill Tower to retrieve her belongings, only to discover the tower engulfed in flames, burning completely to the ground. The narrative breaks off mid-sentence as they survey the destruction.
