A Solas con Charly (Alone with Charly) by Lou Carrigan, published in 1977 as issue #216 of Editorial Bruguera's Selección Terror collection, presents a contemporary thriller set in London. Six wealthy, bored young people—Alfred, Lucian, Rod, Sally, Rosie, and Linda—gather in an apartment seeking distraction from their aimless lives. After heated discussion about drugs and entertainment, Rosie discovers a lonely-hearts advertisement in Young Life magazine from someone named Charly seeking companionship. Following an argument with Lucian, who confesses love and proposes they leave the group together, Rosie impulsively calls the number. She reaches Charly and arranges a meeting, claiming to be nineteen. The narrative establishes tension between the characters' superficial hedonism and their underlying emotional needs, while introducing an unknown element—Charly—whose intentions remain ambiguous as the story develops.
