# "Foto-Sex" by Ralph Barby (1976)
This Spanish-language horror serial follows Lumière, a poor nurse and distant relative summoned to care for her wealthy, aging Aunt Andrea Dubois at the family's decaying mansion east of Paris. Andrea promises to fund Lumière's medical studies in exchange for nursing care. The household includes Coubert, a taciturn butler wearing an orthopedic apparatus from neck to legs who can barely speak. Andrea has recently acquired eight grotesque paintings depicting a skeletal figure in penitent's robes, surrounded by flagellated figures in apparent ecstasy, their signatures absent yet seeming to possess independent life. Andrea refuses to discuss these paintings and expresses terror of solitude, demanding Lumière remain in her bedroom during nights. Andrea cryptically mentions "Professor Joverek," a spiritualist claiming to possess curative powers and promising youth and longevity. Lumière remains skeptical of the professor's claims while her aunt exhibits unexplained fear and speaks of invisible chains binding her.
