"El cerebro del Dragón" (The Brain of the Dragon) by Curtis Garland is a 1975 Spanish-language terror/fantasy story presented as a tribute to Sax Rohmer's Fu Manchu character. The narrative opens with an elaborate funeral ceremony in an opulent Oriental palace, where a tall, deceased man lies in a golden and scarlet coffin surrounded by robed devotees chanting in an exotic language. A beautiful Oriental priestess in yellow performs ritualistic invocations over blue and green mystical flames, declaring herself the dead man's heir and successor to his organization. She announces plans to cremate the body and scatter his ashes to the four cardinal directions, claiming his power transcends death. Chang-Lo, the deceased's mixed-race son, arrives to protest his exclusion from the final rites, only to be coldly dismissed by his sister, who promises the dead man will achieve world domination posthumously through her leadership of their secret brotherhood.
