Selección Terror: Clark Carrados

· 1975

This Spanish-language terror story, "Calefacción en la tumba" (Heating in the Tomb) by Clark Carrados, follows Bat Folsom, who arrives at a remote tavern called La Foca Retozona for a failed romantic rendezvous. There he meets Cassie Evanston, similarly stood up. A skeletal, glowing-eyed stranger enters—whom the terrified tavern-keeper Edith Albert identifies as Dr. Rhymsane Grophius, dead thirty-five years, who allegedly vowed vengeance from beyond the grave. The stranger departs with his servant Barthold after mentioning "heating" installed in his "tomb." When Folsom's car breaks down en route to Worleigh, he and Cassie discover a nearby abandoned mansion with mysteriously lit windows. They enter seeking shelter, finding old furniture and a fireplace, unaware of what awaits within the Gothic-atmosphere dwelling.
