# Catalog Note: "La Sepultura de los Dioses" by Curtis Garland
This science fiction novel follows an unnamed astronaut from the NASA Project Ulysses space program who crash-lands his vessel, the Odisea, on an uncharted, hostile planet after his ship malfunctions during deep-space exploration. Injured but mobile, the astronaut dons his pressurized suit and abandons the sinking craft as it disappears into boiling mud. He discovers the planet possesses extreme conditions: a toxic atmosphere with lethal radiation levels, temperatures fluctuating between 87°C near volcanic terrain and minus 28°C at night, and a barren landscape devoid of vegetation or visible life. With only emergency rations and a laser pistol, he begins trekking across desolate rocky outcrops and red desert, realizing his return to Earth is now impossible. The narrative emphasizes the astronaut's isolation and the planet's primordial, inhospitable nature as he searches for survival.
