# Black Book Detective, March 1949
This issue features Tony Quinn, the Black Bat, a masked vigilante assistant district attorney who disguises himself in black regalia to combat crime. The lead novel, "Riddle of the Dead Man's Bequest" by G. Wayman Jones, addresses a wave of juvenile delinquency and murder. Quinn investigates when Joey Belding, arrested for shooting a policeman, is mysteriously murdered after posting bail, revealing an organized conspiracy behind the violent youth gangs.
Carroll John Daly contributes the novelet "Bury Me in the Same Grave," featuring Satan Hall, a tough private investigator pitted against a killer named Rattigan. The issue includes five additional short stories: William Degenhard's "Nothing but the Truth," Johnston McCulley's "Thubway Tham's Quiz Program," Ray Cummings's "Time for Murder," Norman A. Daniels's "A Fool for Murder," and Stacy Kent's "Robin Hood of Blackheath," a true crime account of burglar Charles Peace. An editor's column, reader correspondence, and advertisements round out the publication.
