# Peter Peppergrass, the Greenhorn from Gotham

This issue features the opening chapters of "Peter Peppergrass, the Greenhorn from Gotham," a comic serial by Noah Nuff. Peter, a vain New York dandy in haute couture and high hat, arrives in the rural village of Squashville seeking to impress locals and court country girls. Upon arrival, he is promptly knocked down by a red-headed farmboy, kicked by a grocer, and humiliated repeatedly. Undeterred, Peter boards at Sol Hayseed's farm. He attempts to charm the farmer's pretty daughter Miranda while milking cows—a task at which he proves spectacularly inept, earning a violent toss from an irritated heifer. Chapter Two finds Peter planning a fishing expedition to the pond to recover from his mishaps. The narrative emphasizes physical comedy and Peter's delusional self-regard contrasted with country folk's pragmatic deflation of his pretensions.
