# The Smash-Up in "No-World Kingdom"
The Smash-Up in "No-World Kingdom": A Romance of the Unexplored Range by Wm. H. Manning features the hardened frontier scout Alkali Abe and his taciturn companion Seth Mason, who witness an extraordinary encounter while camped in the remote Southwest. From their ridge vantage point, they observe two riders fleeing from attacking Apaches. When the pursuers seem certain to overtake their prey, an elephant—impossibly ridden by a beautiful young woman—charges the Indian party, scattering and injuring them in panic-stricken retreat. The mysterious "Elephant Queen" displays remarkable composure and skill. Abe and Mason, astonished by this surreal occurrence in the unexplored wilderness, pursue the trail seeking answers but find no trace of the enigmatic riders or their fantastic mount, ultimately returning to camp bewildered.
