# Captain Cutsleeve; or, Touch-Me-Not, the Little Sport
This Beadle & Adams dime novel, published March 14, 1883, presents a Western adventure by William R. Eyster. The narrative follows a delicate-appearing young man in refined store clothes boarding a stagecoach bound for Glory Gulch, Arizona, despite the protests of two rough passengers—Tom Gouger, a notorious gunman from Shasta, and his partner Huckleberry. When Gouger attempts to prevent the stranger's boarding, the youth demonstrates surprising physical prowess and marksmanship, disarming both toughs and forcing them to accept his passage. The stranger, nicknamed "Touch-Me-Not" by acquaintances, carries a heavy sachel containing bullion, nuggets, coin, and diamonds. His mild demeanor conceals considerable combat skill and nerve, establishing him as the protagonist of this frontier tale blending action, gunplay, and character contrast.
