# Andros, the Free Rover

This serialized nautical melodrama by Ned Buntline follows Captain Gerald Andros, a sea-faring man of refinement and haughty bearing. The narrative unfolds in New York during a December storm: a watchman on the Battery piers rescues a young woman in white attempting suicide, carrying her to shelter. Simultaneously, the treacherous step-son Harry Corryell druggs Andros at a champagne revel, intercepting a letter from a woman begging Andros to marry her at once—Corryell plans to use this against his inheritance.
