New York Nat's Masked Mascot: The Boy Police League's Tunnel Hunt by Colonel Prentiss Ingraham continues the adventures of young New York Nat and his detective band. Olive, the orphaned heiress who refuses blood-stained inheritance money, joins Nat's Boy Police League—a secret organization operating from a vault in an abandoned cemetery. The league comprises thirteen street youths in various disguises. Sykes, the band's oldest member, challenges Nat's leadership and proposes they work openly with police. When Nat reveals that Sykes is a traitor planning to expose the league, Sykes attempts escape but is confronted by "Queen," the masked female mascot—actually Olive—who forces him back at gunpoint. Nat places Sykes under arrest with handcuffs as the story breaks off.
