# The Ten Pards: The Terror of Take-Notice

A serial western tale by T. C. Harbaugh, continuing in this issue of the Beadle and Adams publication. The story, set in Northwest Colorado, features Bill Blake, a mysterious card player from Leadville who rides into the territory despite warning notices posted by a gang calling themselves the Ten Pards of Take-Notice. The gang's written notice threatens intruders with violence.

Blake confronts the Ten Pards directly and challenges them to poker. After demonstrating cool card-playing skill against gang leaders Captain Quartz and Bowie Bill, Blake wins a substantial pot of gold coins. When Captain Quartz accuses him of cheating and demands repayment of a thousand dollars, Blake hurls the wallet containing the money directly into Quartz's face and rides away defiantly while the gang pursues him.
