Dynamite Dan; or, The Bowie Blade of Cochetopa

This issue of Beadle and Adams Weekly (Vol. XII, No. 204, March 18, 1883) contains "Dynamite Dan; or, The Bowie Blade of Cochetopa" by T. C. Harbaugh, a western adventure tale. During a mountain storm on a Colorado stage road, the mysterious "Velvet Foot," an Indian tracker with distinctive soft moccasins, boards the coach to pursue a man called "Bowie Blade." When discovered by passenger Dynamite Dan, a confrontation ensues. Bowie Blade—a man with a notorious reputation and a formidable fourteen-inch knife—descends from the stage to challenge Velvet Foot, but discovers that Dynamite Dan, harboring his own ten-year grudge against Bowie Blade, will be his opponent instead. Meanwhile, in Clear Grit mining camp to the north, anxious miners await scouts returning from the distant Cochetopa Hills with news of purported gold deposits.
