# Catalog Note
This February 1904 pulp adventure serial, "The Boy Giant of the Yellowstone; or, Old Spokane Joe's Trust" by Oll Coomes, follows four young tourists—Frank Rodman, his sister Wilma, Sarah Marshall, and Frederick Sears—on an expedition through Yellowstone Park. They await their guide, the nineteen-year-old "Baby Sam" (Samuel Burling), a physically powerful mountain youth known for his exceptional strength, marksmanship, and frontier skills. When Sam arrives late, he explains he was defending cattle from a joint Indian-outlaw attack. The party plans to canoe to a remote island called "Wilma Isle." While transporting the young women, Sam discovers a wounded Crow warrior, Sparrowhawk, in the lake who warns that Sioux warriors are hiding on the island, threatening the girls' safety. The narrative combines romantic elements with frontier action and Indigenous encounters.
