Denver Detective in New York: Kid Keene's $50,000 Snap
By Howard M. Boynton. This detective serial follows Kid Keen, a Denver investigator summoned to New York by Jack Weldon, a hotel proprietor. Weldon claims a beautiful young woman named Bonnie, who had been staying at his Denver hotel, stole a leather sachel containing $50,000 in cash from his locked desk drawer. The girl left behind a letter revealing her plan to meet a man named Clarence Carthay on the 11:50 eastbound train to New York and become his wife. Keen departs Denver that same evening for New York. En route, he notices the Weldon House clerk also traveling east under the assumed name James T. Manton, heightening his suspicions. Upon arriving in New York, Keen tracks Manton to a shabby building housing a pawnbroker's shop in lower Manhattan, where a light flickers on the second floor.
