This is the opening installment of "Dandy Dick Decoyed: The Terrible Tussle at Satan's Delight" by Robert Randolph Inman, part of the Dandy Dick Detective series. In Chapter I, a disreputable drifter named Timothy Tough discovers an injured woman on a mountain trail. She reveals she was attacked by Craig Morgan (also known as Devil Duval), a man she loved who attempted to murder her. She vows vengeance. Tough agrees to help her.

In Chapter II, the woman explains Morgan seduced her in Denver under the assumed name Henry Dawson, then tired of her and abused her when they came to this region. Convinced Morgan has taken a rival, she followed him and was brutally beaten.

Chapter III shows them approaching Morgan's hidden cavern camp. The woman suddenly betrays Tough—three armed men ambush and bind him. She disappears into the illuminated cavern, revealing the entire encounter was a trap. The nature of her deception and true allegiances remain unclear.
