This issue contains two serials. "Scarred Eagle: Moorooine, the Sporting Fawn," by Andrew Dearborn, continues a story from his earlier "White Serpent, the Shawnee Scourge." Set during Pontiac's War on the North Shore wilderness frontier, the narrative depicts violent conflict between Indigenous warriors and white settlers, featuring the female protagonist Moorooine, who serves as heroine amid mortal dangers and the "course of true love."

"The Ocean Outlaw" is also serialized, beginning near St. Augustine, Florida around 1825. Ralph Gray, a mysterious sea captain of wealthy appearance, establishes an isolated cottage overlooking the ocean. He leaves behind a young daughter, Ethel, and elderly caretaker Mrs. Mills in the charge of Silas Morton, a faithful former sailor. Fifteen years later, Ethel—now eighteen and musically accomplished—receives a suspicious visitor, Stephen Granger, who claims to work for her father but whose true intentions remain unclear to the observant Morton.
