The Argosy, Volume 42 (July-December 1886), edited by Mrs. Henry Wood, contains a serialized novel Lady Valeria by A. Moberly in forty-seven chapters, alongside numerous shorter stories and poems. The featured serial involves characters Edric, Elsie, and Euphrosyne in an intricate plot involving warnings and danger; in the excerpt shown, Elsie urgently implores Edric to leave his regiment, claiming a prophetic dream revealed his death within seven days if he remains.
