This February 1968 issue of Amazing Stories features Katherine MacLean's novelet "The Trouble with You Earth People," in which two extraterrestrial anthropologists named Rem Sh'baar and his wife Tima prepare for an interview with humans on Earth. Both study human culture through television broadcasts, discussing their species' behavioral contrasts with humans—posture during interviews, smoking habits, and sitting on chairs. The aliens observe news coverage of their spacecraft's arrival and official greetings from US and UN officials, establishing a comedic cross-cultural scenario. The issue also includes Frank Herbert's serial "Santaroga Barrier" (conclusion), novelets by Walter Kateley and Rog Phillips, short stories by David Reid and Alfred Coppel, and nonfiction features including Leone Stover's "Science of Man" article on Neanderthals and technology, plus inaugural columns from Fritz Leiber and Brian Aldiss.
