# Amazing Stories, July 1956

This issue of Amazing Stories (Vol. 30, No. 7) contains six science fiction stories. The featured story is "This Planet Is Mine" by C. H. Thames, part of the "Johnny Mayhem" series. Mayhem is an immortal intelligence capable of transferring between bodies across the galaxy; here he arrives on Dreamworld, a sanitarium for the mentally ill where he inhabits a newly deceased patient's body. He's sent on a classified mission whose nature remains undisclosed. A woman arrives claiming the body belonged to her son, creating immediate conflict over Mayhem's identity.

Additional stories include "The Monument" by Henry Slesar, "The Last Chord" by Karl Stanley, "Run of Luck" by Calvin Knox, "Stay Out of My Grave" by Ralph Burke, and "Catch a Thief" by Gordon Aghill. The issue features departments: "The Observatory" editorial by Howard Browne (currently in Hollywood writing television scripts), "The Spectroscope" by Villiers Gerson, and reader letters. Cover art is by Edward Valigursky.
