The Great Fight in Sherwood Forest

This issue features the opening chapter of a serialized Robin Hood adventure. A grey-clad wayfarer travels a forest road near Sherwood and refuses to move aside for a haughty nobleman, Sir Hugo de Martival. When Hugo strikes him with a whip, the stranger catches it and hurls it away; Hugo then draws his sword to kill him, but an archer's arrow pierces Hugo's hand first—the shot apparently from Robin Hood's band. The mysterious wayfarer reveals himself to be Sir Hugo's mortal enemy, now escaped from Saracen captivity. He flees into the forest and locates Friar Tuck's hermitage, where he reunites with the jolly friar, who offers him food after his travels. Extensive advertisements fill the remaining pages, including air pistols, bicycles, and various mail-order offers.
