This April 20, 1923 issue of Adventure magazine contains nine stories. Featured works include W.C. Tuttle's "Sticky Ropes," a Western novelette about newly-elected Sheriff Dusty Corbett whose paint pony is stolen by the mysterious Sticky Rope gang—rustlers and murderers who mark their crimes with syrup-dipped rope as both calling card and warning. Hugh Pendexter's five-part serial "Red Autumn" concerns travel up the Missouri in 1812 to warn of war. Arthur M. Harris's "Groan o' the Gallows" deals with pirate tales from the Indian Ocean where men were hanged under Scottish law. Other contributions include stories set in Morocco, the Great Lakes, India, Africa, and the Old West by authors including Talbot Mundy, Hubert Roussel, and Lynn Montross. The issue also features practical service sections on forestry, radio, mining, and weapons.
