Pulp Magazine Cover, 1961

Β· 1961

This is not a museum catalog of pulp magazine fiction. The OCR text shows internal U.S. Air Force memoranda from summer 1961 concerning a congressional investigation of the UFO program (Project Blue Book), plus sections from Newsweek magazine reporting on national and international news, including items about flying saucers being investigated by a House committee. The Air Force documents detail preparations for a visit by Richard Hines, technical assistant to the House Committee on Science and Astronautics, which would examine how the USAF handled UFO reports and FTD's analytical capabilities. Major Robert J. Friend and Dr. J. Allen Hynek were identified as key figures in the UFO program needing to coordinate for the inquiry. The Newsweek sections cover Washington political developments and international affairs.
