# UFO Sighting Investigation, Eagle River, Wisconsin (April 1961)

This document records the U.S. Air Force investigation into a reported UFO landing and alien contact near Eagle River, Wisconsin on April 15, 1961. The witness claimed a saucer-shaped craft, approximately 30 feet in diameter and 12 feet high with exhaust pipes, descended near his home. He reported that an alien occupant—described as five feet tall, wearing a black turtleneck and skull cap—emerged from a hatch. The witness allegedly provided the occupant with water, receiving four cakes in exchange before the craft departed rapidly.

Air Force investigators, including Dr. J. Allen Hynek of Northwestern University, determined the witness was mentally balanced but concluded the experience constituted hallucination followed by delusion. Analysis by the Food and Drug Administration identified the provided cakes as ordinary buckwheat pancakes of terrestrial origin. The incident gained considerable local publicity and sparked plans for public lectures on the encounter.
